Big boys climb trees...

Yesterday Sam decided that in order to be a "big boy" he needed to learn how to climb trees. He has seen a couple of the older boys on base climbing them and he made up his mind that he was going to try. He pushed the bench close to the tree and went for it...

He was very proud of himself for getting up there. He even let me take some pictures!

And while big boys are climbing trees...little boys are sliding and swinging...

staying busy

The boys and I have been trying to stay busy while Cory is in Florida. Today we took a trip to the beach. I didn't realize how a simple visit to the beach could turn into such a nature lesson...we found lots of ladybugs and Sam was particularly fascinated by these two...he was very curious as to what they were doing...

I wasn't too sure how to answer that question. Luckily he is only 3 1/2 and it doesn't take much to distract him!

After the beach we spent the rest of the afternoon playing the backyard. The boys just love to be outside.

Silly Sam

Samuel has been quite a little clown lately. I walked into the bathroom yesterday to find him like this....Mr. Underwear Head....Whatever it takes to get him to go potty, I guess.

He loves to make "funny faces". This is him playing in his new "clubhouse" (a tent Cory set up in the back yard).

Santa Barbara Zoo

Sam has actually started potty training this week...yippee!! Yes, I know that he is 3 1/2, but up until this point he has had absolutely no interest in it at all. He still isn't terribly interested, but we are making progress. I made a deal with him that if he tried as hard as he could to stay clean and dry and actually use the toilet, Cory and I would take him to the zoo. So, Sunday was our zoo day. The boys did great and Sam had SO MUCH fun looking at all the animals!
